State Record Flathead Catfish, We are located directly across the highway from Red Haw State Park on US Highway 34 in South Central Iowa. We are just one mile East of the town of Chariton, Iowa.

Red Haw State Park is known for its beautiful Spring blossoms on the thousands of Red Bud trees which generally bloom in the month of April each year. Lake Ellis also is located right next to the Country Cabins Resort and offers excellent fishing with the state record catfish being caught there back in June of 1958 by Joe Baze of Chariton.

We have 3 lakes within a very short hike and hunting opportunities with hundreds of acres of very heavy public access timber. Trophy whitetails are taken here every year. There are also turkey, bobcats, rabbit, squirrel and even an occasion mountain lion.

Also located right next door is the Soda Pop Saloon and Frontier Trading Post and Hook, Line and Sinker Bait Shack. They carry a huge selection for your fishing needs and the Trading Post offers a wide variety for your shopping pleasure. They also have an antique barn filled with hidden treasures.
